Spring Sun

Early Spring

Beers in the sun
Berlin has definitely decided that it's Spring.  The bikes are out, the outdoor chairs and tables are on the footpaths and everyone who is anyone has their heads firmly facing the sun absorbing the rays.

The Australian in me still feels that to be sitting outside when it's 10 degrees it a little silly, but there is a small part of me which is feeling quite European - "what a lovely day!" I hear myself thinking. "Not too cold, perhaps we could even sit outside?" Really it's still a little bit too chilly and after 30 minutes it was time to warm-up again inside with another (!) hot chocolate*. But it was bliss while it lasted. Spring and some warmer weather is definitely close!

*hot chocolate makes me smile and the Bean gets very excited too - which I've decided is a reason to indulge at least once a day.

I miss Berlin :-)

Thanks! Great pictures, by the way. I've been trying to get into photography and all my pictures feel so bland, whereas your pictures have an obvious life to them. Needless to say, I'm wildly jealous.

Today I also enjoyed the sun. It's so beautiful outside, in the morning chirping birds, the first green leaves sprout and today I needed no winter coat. But I can imagine that if you come from a hot country, that's not a very warm feel. After many cold winters you might get used to it ;)?

What beautiful light Clare!
I sure hope we see some of it here soon.
P.S. When my little boy (who is now 21) was a little "Bean," graham crackers used to do it for him. who knows why, but I could count on it!

The beautiful light you captured makes it look deceptively warm.

Oh, the way you captured the sunlight! I can feel its elusive warmth. That first picture particularly has me ready to book a ticket there -- in some ways it reminds me of Central Park in NYC.

i think there's this lovely sense of optimism in the air after a european winter. everyone is just so happy for what little bit of sun there is and gets excited for the months ahead!

Such a romantic feel with the light in these photos. I long to be in the sun out of doors. The shot with the bicycles is my favorite.

These photos are stunning. I really love all soft light. How sweet the baby loves Hot Cocoa. We've been having some sunny days here in NYC but I'm with you it's still not warm enough to sit outside for too long. Winter's breeze is still lingering.

What beautiful golden light. Our spring, thus far, is mostly rain with limited sun...but I can't wait for the light to turn orange and gold here too..

Very non-scientific but I have a theory that what you crave when you are pregnant can predict what your child will love to eat... I craved soy sauce and olives when pregnant with Rowan and he STILL can't get enough of either!

Mmm, these photos are lovely... Makes me a little sad that we are entering Autumn, but I guess having just finished Winter, you deserve it! Enjoy!

Oh, I love that first image. How the streetlight glows with sunlight. I can feel the warmth of the spring sun on my face in these photos...
