White Noise

Late Summer Blooms
You know how babies are supposed to all go crazy at around 5pm and grizzle and feed and sulk for a few hours before popping off to bed? Well, Emilia does it in the morning. From 7am to midday she snacks constantly, cat-naps, grizzles and occassionally sleeps. Not infrequently I find myself at midday half dressed and emotionally drained from all the nursing, swaddling, cooing, shh-ing, rocking and loving that I have to do to get her to calm down. In the afternoon she's an angel - all smiles and cute baby stuff - but she's a Gremlin in the morning.

But I'm on to her, or at least my sister is (thank god for big sisterly advice). She recommended I try some 'white noise' so I found this website and then I discovered an App for my very dodgy phone that not only has white noise but thunderstorms, oscillating fans and heavy rain. They're miracle baby soothers! Keeps her asleep for at least an hour so that I can shower and get ready for the day (or blog, as the case may be).

*the picture is completely irrelevant to the post, but late summer blooms are always nice don't you think?

From my perspective - seems you've got everything under control! As 'they' say, "where there's a will, there's a way!"

Late blooms are always nice...seems they're working to burst with the last bit of color they can manage.
Glad you've found a solution for morning Gremlins. White noise is a wonderful thing for mother and child....and for my mother to get respite from my loud snoring father.

Anthony was the very same way. Slept like an angel during the night (when I had help from the husband) but was all kinds of grumbly by morning time.

I hope the white noise continues to work for your darling daughter!

Yes, I've heard that the first three months of life are still womb mode for the baby... So loud shooshing, swaddling, and swaying are things that seem to sooth the baby. It worked with twila. Good luck! Although it sounds like you have everything under control.

I love the photo, late summer blooms are always nice I agree.

I've heard of white noise before with babies, I'm mentally taking notes just in case lol.

I hope it continues to work for you :)

It's hard but it will pass. You will turn around and she will be a year old.
A agree, the late summer flowers are beautiful and you captured the colours great.

Always nice to know when big sisterly advice comes in handy. Hey, I just thought of something - maybe she is operating on Australian time?!?!

Oh, this brings back memories!
For my son the white noise was the vacuum cleaner. Most little ones are scared of them, but my son? Off to sleep, the minute it turned on.

yes those flowers are beautiful and boy that must be a challenge if your not a morning person? what a great strategy using white noise. your sister was spot on, i'm sure fans/white noise machine could easily lull anyone to sleep.

I can empathise - grumpy and food-orientated in the mornings... a girl after my own heart. Haven't seen your cheery posts for a while Bear - looking forward to your return! CJ xx My Aunt used to say the same thing about new puppies who whined all night - put the radio on in their room and they feel better.
