Chairs

in a line_BWkidschair_BWdiner_BWwickerchair
I'm a little consumed by creating collections of photographs at the moment. You might remember that a couple of weeks ago I talked about how this month I'm experimenting with 'relaxation'. While that little collection is slowly forming I thought I'd go back through my archives and see what else I could rustle up. These photos are all from last summer - taken on a walk past some of the cafes in Prenzlauerberg. I love the different personality of all the different chairs; the cool regularity of the Berlin cafe chair, the fun infused into the American Diner and what I think is the quiet elegance of the Parisian wicker chair in the photo above. But maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. They are just chairs. Or maybe not.

What I do know is that this last photo refused to be changed into a duller, slightly more sophisticated, black and white version of itself. No sir-ee, it was staying bright and cheerful no matter my coaxing and pleading. And I kinda like it that way too. Hope your weekend is as happy and full of relaxation as this swinging chair with it's friendly bucket of flowers.

Lovelies! The black and whites are so beautiful...that one shadow on the seat is so attractive. I also love shooting for collections of images. So many inspirations to take advantage of ;) have a good weekend!

I love how you've captured the lines of the chairs - I think more than anything, I love that aspect of these shots. Great job!

Beautiful!
I have adopted many chairs over the years. I love looking at them and remembering their story.
Great shots.

Clare, I don't think I've ever thought about chairs in this way before, but they certainly do have something very particular to say. It's like they're anticipating something. Beautiful photos, my dear. Hope you have an inspiring weekend!

love the one with the shadow pattern. a great series--it's wonderful how we can take a simple word like "chair" and turn it into beautiful art!
