It's been a little while since I posted any crafty things around here. It's not for lack of action. I've been prolific at beginnings. Knitting cardigans, continuing this blanket, sewing baby pants and the latest... an Origami mobile. The problem is that I haven't been very good at finishing anything. Anyway, because I'm still really at a wedding Leeds, I thought I'd post about my current obsession with Origami and Kusudama.
I started this last weekend with Matthias. He quickly declared that Oragami was not his thing and left me to make my Cheery Blossom Kusudama. I like it, but it's a little big for the tiny little space I've carved out in our apartment as the Baby's space. So before trying again I've stalked the pages of Etsy and come up with a delicious selection of Origami mobiles to base my "in the making" mobile on. I'm thinking about some kind of combination of #2 and #3, although I'm still in love with the idea of a Kusudama featuring somewhere. Like I said, it's a work in progress. And if all else fails, I can always just buy one that's already been made by one of these crafty ladies.

Oh, these are all beautiful! What a fantastic idea to make an origami mobile! Whatever you choose, I recommend bright colors and lots of movement. Something you can interact with together is nice too, when you're trying to keep baby focused on something else during a diaper change or what-not. I can't wait ot see what you come up with!
Very cool! I love #3! Once the baby is older, s/he will love watching you make "paper birds" as my son calls them - magic!
You amaze me. I know you post about working....when do you find time for all this? I did hear you say prolific and not finished, but oh my. The cooking, knitting, photos, oragami...and you're going to have a baby? Wow.
I like that #2 a lot-I'm sure you'll come up with something unique and clever. I should try this oragami stuff. I like the lines and I bet it would relieve stress.
What an amazing collection, these look fantastic!
These are amazing! I can't wait to see what you come up with.
Lovely! I love origami but it does always seem to take me to a point where I have no idea what to do next! I keep trying though... Look forward to seeing what yours turn out like.
there is something so special about origami ..i think it will be so pretty for the baby space
i love number 1. the paper and compact-ness of it are totally my style.
wow, amazing origami!! you certainly are crafty.
These are amazing Clare! I have never seen nor heard of a kusudama. the one here is just beautiful. I get a bit stressed even thinking about what goes into the making of it though. I had a difficult enough time when I made my crane for Japan. I am embarrassed to say how long that simple little thing took for me to master.
You are such an amazing crafter. That Kusudama is amazing. I really love the pinwheel mobile! Off to check out wedding pics!
