this is who I am : for the love of photo prints

This is one of the few photos I have which is framed in our house.  We have a wall of photos in the kitchen, but they're really just happy snap-shots and quick family photos that remind us of friends and family.  I keep meaning to print out a few photos and frame them like this one - I even thought about doing it this week for Divas and Dreams Creative Challenge - but it is something that has remained on the 'to do' list.

This is a photo of my older sister and me around 1983-84, I guess.  We're sitting at my grandparents house glued to the TV.  I love everything about this photo - the light is exactly how I remember the room looking when the blinds were drawn to watch TV, the pattern on the chair brings back memories of afternoon naps curled up with a blanket and I love how my sister has her arm drapped so casually around me.  Looking at this photo brings with it sights and smells and sounds from my grandparents house in the 80s, and really that's what all good photos should do, right?

that is such a precious photo of you and your sister that captures such an intimate moment - I just love spontaneous moments like this! You should have this printed up large - it's divine! xx

This is a beautiful photograph. Makes me want to go into my family's photo album and try to find one with the same sort of memory. Thanks so much for sharing.

Hey Claire-
I love this post....I love the photo, love the memories it evokes. And yes, you're right if it does that for you.
Funny you should mention framing. It is on my "to-do" list as well. In fact a couple weeks ago I picked up some frames extra cheap at yard sales and thrift stores. Thought a hodge-podge of frames might be ideal for my hodge-podge of phtotos.
I've been quite busy with not enough time to spend at OPBs (other people's blogs). Glad I've had a few moments to catch up with you.
Happy Day.
Susan

To 'capture' a life, you actually don't need many special photos, such as this one, with the ability to take you back to a time that evokes so many intimate and formative memories.
Unfortunately, moments like this are often missed which is why good photographers - and people mindful of beauty - always have their camera, or pen and pencil close to hand.
I think it is the best one Papa Bennett took of you and Katie - and he did take lots! SB

Needless to say, I love this photo too and all it represents. It's easy to remember all the squabbles siblings have, and I love the fact that this photo is so un-posed, and conveys another lovely side of a sister relationship. I'm happy this photo is framed!

That's a really lovely thought - it's more than a photo because it is loaded with memories, feelings, sights, and smells. So evocative. I have a few as well that capture a place in time for me. They are so precious, aren't they?
