No disasters this week - just a blissful week in Paris topped off with a wonderful girls-weekend with two friends currently living the ex-pat life in England. So I thought I'd put this post out to you...
What can't you travel without?
For me, I can never have enough undies. They are the first thing I pack and the last that I remove in the cull. I can survive with only one pair of shoes, no hairdryer, a couple of clothes changes but clean undies are an absolute necessity. I usually have 10 pairs while traveling, minimum 7. Excessive perhaps, but they take up little room, are light and importantly, mean that you can spend more time seeing the sights and less time washing your 'smalls' in the hotel sink!

I can't travel without a book, and have trouble letting go of a book i have enjoyed once finished with it. i ended up bringing 3 of the books i read overseas home, although i only left with 1 and read about 20 while overseas!

I travel with a good sharp knife, in my suitcase of course, a sewing kit and a magnifying glass. Always mean to take a poster tube & nearly always forget. When I remember I don't need it & when I forget ...
You must be in London by now. Time for an update. Nothing to do with London or Paris but I bought Rowan a baby guitar for his birthday ... he calls it 'Roa's gar'. La Chapelle sounded great - one of my most memorable musical experiences.
Toilet paper...essential. And on that topic, loose change if you're in one of those silly countries that charges you to go to the toilet (isn't that almost a violation of human rights?)
Hmmm, endorse the tweezers. Also can't travel without a bottle opener and a lonely planet. My laptop is becoming a new essential... Poster tube is a great one, and thanks to mum's suggestion, it has always come in handy when I've brought one.
For the last 7 years of various travels, I have taken a little black Maglight. Haven't used it once, but if I ever need a torch - it will be there! Legacy of my dear Gran, she can't go anywhere without a little torch and tiny alarm clock. Also take a journal, I don't keep one between trips, but tend to write on the journey there, and back, and a few in between.
