A Snowy Walk in Vienna

I'm being a bit cheeky and writing this post on Friday night.  I have a feeling that this weekend isn't going to leave any time for blog posting because... this weekend is/was the Vienna Doctor's Ball. Yep, a true proper, franzy-schmanzy, ball-gown wearing, orchestra-playing, waltz-dancing Ball!  I'm sure there'll be a post coming about said Ball, but for now I thought I'd show you some pictures I took in the Vienna Forest last week.

I had a meeting in Vienna on Wednesday and rather than flying back to Berlin only to return to Vienna on Friday night I was lucky enough to be able to work from "home" for Thursday and Friday.  Although working from home did involve some work, I also managed to get out for a long and delightful walk in the forest.  The snow had just stopped falling and I had the tracks mostly to myself, save for a few dogs and their owners.  It was really the best way to reconnect with the beauty of winter after feeling so gloomy about the grey clouds and drizzle that have been hanging over Berlin for weeks.  Plus, I've decided that snow is really quite wonderful, as long as you are just "visiting" and not living amongst it for months.  How are all you northern hemisphere people feeling about winter at the end of January?  Ready for a bit of warmth yet or happy for the snow to stay?

That first photo is breathtaking, absolutely stunning! It sounds like you had a lovely walk. I'm in Switzerland and am not getting nearly enough snow! After having lived in Canada as a child, I NEED snow during winter... and lots of it! I remember as a little kid waking up and the snow being higher than me. I miss those days. : ) I can't wait to see photos/hear about the Ball; how exciting!

Beautiful photographs Clare! I especially like the triple!
We've had a tough winter here on the East Coast (US). Colder than I remember in past years, and a major snowstorm on the way this week. Counting the days until spring. Or should I say months????
Have a great day!

OMIGOSH! Beeeautiful Clare! The top left image is one of the prettiest things I have ever seen.

Is it crazy to want to visit Vienna in the wintertime?

You get to go to a Ball and walk through a snow filled forest? I SO want to come visit. I miss the forests most of all here in southern California. I went hiking this weekend and there was hardly a tree to be found. And this forest you captured is the stuff my dreams are made of.

The top left photo is STUNNING! My husband and I love dancing and "balls". I have a few pounds to go to fit into my long elegant dresses - but this IS the time to do it as the weather is perfect outside here in central North Carolina - USA. My youngest son is 3 and I have no excuse anymore! :) Look forward to seeing the ball gown! :)

A real honest-to-goodness ball! I hope you share pics. I really love your winter scenes. We have had hardly any snow in N. Italy this winter, and I am sad.

I hope you had an amazing time at the ball.

Even as tired as I am of snow these photos make it look beautiful.

The snow will not go away. We got more buckets today. I think this is the most snow I've ever seen this year. But you know what? I'm still delighted at each snow fall, so I guess I'll have to begrudgingly admit that I'm glad it's still falling instead of just sitting there and being freezing in weeks.

Hope to hear about the Ball soon!
